Phase II (2008-2009)

What we're doing

There are four technical architecture projects in Phase 2 of the ECHO DEPOsitory:
  • Hub and Spoke, also known as HandS, which is further exploring open-source interoperability tools, expanding the Hub-and-Spoke architecture and building repository community collaboration;
  • Extracting Metadata for Preservation (EMP), which is developing a generalized metadata tool architecture and building a Named Entity Metadata Extraction tool;
  • Semantic Archive, which works on a rules-based inference model for provenance metadata generation; and
  • INFORM Risk Assessment Methodology, which is developing an infrastructure to support a community-cultivated information resource for assessing data format risk, implementing the INFORM methodology as an online application.
